Fall is in the air!

Autumn is peeking around the corner. There's a chill in the air. It's a little rainy and overcast. The trees have a tinge of scarlet and orange around the edges. Shorter nights; darker mornings.

Soon, there'll be apple picking and pumpkin carving; leaf raking, only to jump headlong into the pile, scattering the leaves back to the wind. Digging through the back of the closet, pulling out the light jackets and sweaters.

In my years in MI, I've discovered that this may in fact be my favorite time of year. The cooler nights, the earlier evenings, the crispness in the air; I find myself looking forward to it by the beginning of September. S and B and I running to the orchards for pumpkins, cider, donuts and apples. S's Pumpkin Party and then handing out candy at her place on Halloween. Thanksgiving dinner with friends or family. Even the really cold nights that let you know winter is breathing down your neck, ready to strike at any moment; it all adds up to a grand time of year!
